Archuleta loves exploring how historical fact is refracted through the prism of film and television. \nJoin us as Archuleta presents his book\, “The Reel Thrilling Events of Bank Robber Henry Starr: From Gentleman Bandit to Movie Star and Back Again.” Through surviving memorabilia\, newspaper accounts\, and interviews with people who worked with him on set\, author Mark Archuleta traces how the reformed Gentleman Bandit attempted to use the power of cinema to reframe his life story and redeem himself in the eyes of the public\, his family\, and the Cherokee Nation. “The Reel Thrilling Events of Bank Robber Henry Starr: From Gentleman Bandit to Movie Star and Back Again.” is about more than heists and Hollywood glamor. \nThis event will be held Thursday\, October 9th\, from 12:00 p.m. – 1 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy the museum’s newest exhibit “Outlaw Trails and Legendary Hideouts\,” on display from October through January 1st\, 2026. DESCRIPTION:The Bartlesville Area History Museum is excited to announce our\, “November Lunch and Learn” event will feature guest speaker\, Dr. Michelle M. Martin. Dr. Michelle M. Martin is a Michigander by birth and a Kansan and Okie by choice. Martin is a historian who earned her doctorate at the University of New Mexico in May 2022. She earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees in history at Western Michigan University. After graduating from Western Michigan University Martin embarked on a nearly twenty-year career in academic and public history. For eleven years she taught full and part time at the two and four year college level in Kansas and Oklahoma. She also worked in the television and film industry for nearly ten years as a researcher\, script writer\, and field producer. Projects she has contributed to have aired on PBS\, A&E\, History Channel\, Investigation Discovery\, and at National Park Service units in Kansas\, Missouri\, and Arkansas. For several years Martin worked as a museum director and has served on numerous museum boards and has provided consulting services for small museums in Kansas and Oklahoma. \nJoin us as Dr. Martin discusses the time during 1843-1890 when Husti-Coluc-Chee\, also known by his English name Rev. John D. Bemo\, traveled from the Indian Territory to churches and lecture halls east of the Mississippi. When Husti-Coluc-Chee took the stage audiences hushed and marveled at his personal story of kidnapping\, salvation\, and redemption. He dazzled audiences\, for a nominal fee at the door\, with his cultural lectures and programs about Native American life. However\, a deeper dive into his incredible life history reveals Husti-Coluc-Chee’s identity and professional life was complex and not without controversy during his lifetime. Learn more about Husti-Coluc-Chee and his place in Indian Territorial and American history in this public lecture. \nThis event will be held Friday\, November 7th\, from 12:00 p.m. – 1 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy the museum’s current exhibit\, “Outlaw Trails and Legendary Hideouts” on display from now until  January 9th. Join Education Coordinator\, Denise Nowlin\, as she spins a tale of the genius of Edward Delk\, the architect of the mansion\, and his influence on architecture in Oklahoma. Then stick around as H.V. Foster’s great-grandson\, David Preston\, gives a one-of-a-kind tour through the hallways and gardens of this unique house. \nThis venue does not have an elevator\, and parking is a distance away from the Mansion\, so please be aware that some walking and climbing stairs will be involved in this event. The presentation about Edward Delk will begin at 12:00 PM on Thursday\, November 20\, 2025 with the walking tour taking place after that.

This historic milestone marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence on July 4\, 1776\, an event being called the nation’s Semiquincentennial. From now through July\, the museum will commemorate this once-in-a-generation anniversary with special exhibits\, programs\, and community activities that highlight local stories and the role the Bartlesville area has played in the broader American story. DESCRIPTION:The Bartlesville Area History Museum is excited to announce that our March event will be featuring some of Bartlesville’s youngest history buffs. On Friday\, March 20\, 2026\, from 1:00-3:00 PM\, the museum’s spring break campers will be testing out their acting skills\, dressing up in costumes and portraying some of Bartlesville’s history heroes.  Come meet Jacob and Nannie Bartles\, William Johnstone\, George Keeler\, and other famous\, or not so famous Bartians from the past. This event is open to the public\, but kids are especially invited to attend and watch other children perform in a one-of-a-kind role of a lifetime. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Bartlesville Area History Museum is excited to announce our annual “Breakfast Charcuterie with the Easter Bunny\,” event! Chicks and bunnies 13 years or younger\, may join us for a hopping good time as we welcome the Easter Bunny! \nFamilies can enjoy selfies with our favorite rabbit\, an Easter-themed craft\, or win a prize during a hopping sack race! Charcuterie boxes are optional and may be purchased for $10.00\, using cash or card! This is sure to be a family friendly event you won’t want to miss! The event is free but supplies are limited! \nThis event will be held Saturday March 28th\, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. While here\, attendees are encouraged to enjoy the museum’s latest exhibit “Bartlesville Throughout the Decades” on display now through April 13th or your little bunnies may enjoy our Easter-themed coloring station!

On July 4th at Freedom Fest\, locals and visitors alike are invited to compete in the Great Bartles Mustache Showdown\, Categories including: \nThe “Jacob Bartles” – Best Historical Mustache\, \nThe Frontier Whiskers – Best Beard\, and \nThe Prairie Curl – Best Styled Mustache. \nRegistration is free at the BAHM tent and starts at 6: 15 p.m. Contestants will be judged on creativity\, style\, and sheer frontier spirit! \nGrow it.
